Capturing Summer
I've been working all week on saving some of the season's best to enjoy this winter. So far I've canned 1/2 bushels of tomatoes, apples and peaches from our local farmers market. I love pretending to be in a chapter of Little House on the Prairie! Aren't they pretty? But if I'm capturing the end of summer, you know what come's next, right? Boo Hoo. It's the back to school posts. Stay tuned...

There just aren't prettier colors anywhere! I always leave my filled jars on my counter for days....they are so beautiful! Yours are, too!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you've found something to occupy your time this week with a practically empty home! They ARE beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI know what your canned apples make and I just might have to take a trip out there to grab some so I can have some of the best apple pie EVER!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love you. You ROCK!
I'm soooooooooo proud of you!!!! We've been canning, as well, and harvesting, and freezing, and, growing, and having fun, fun, fun!! Apples, blueberries, green beans, zucchini, squash, walla-walla onions, to mention a few. Tomorrow will be dill pickles and a new zuchinni/cucumber/onion relish a friend has given me a recipe for that is DIVINELY DELICIOUS and doesn't hurt my tummy!!! It truly makes me smile to be able to do this again!! Next week is jam time; blackberries, plums, and peach, I think!!! Whew. I bet I'm ready to start cross-stitching the new grandchildren's blankets next month!!!! XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
